The social construction of acid rain
نویسنده
چکیده
There is currently a great deal of discussion in various national and international fora about how to design global change research programmes (for an overview of part of the terrain see Price).’ American policy analysts often invoke the National Acid Precipitation Project (NAPAP) as a textbook example of how not to do policy relevant research (ses for example US Congress, Offlce of Technology Assessmene). We fear that the wrong conclusions are being drawn from the NAPAP experience. In this paper we re-examine NAPAP with a view towards discovering what this experience can teach us about global change research initiatives.

Measurement and Comparison of Soil Splash Rates under the Influence of Acidity and Rain Intensity
Nowadays, acid rain serves as one of the most serious environmental problems has affected many regions in the world. This phenomenon is characterized by many environmental impacts, such as soil contamination and degradation. Acid rain immediately affects soil, causing soil particles to breakdown and be dispersed; this is the first step to initiate the soil erosion. Therefore, in this study, the...

Acid rain, which is a wet form of gaseous air pollutants, is formed when air pollutants such as SO2, NO2, CO2 in the atmosphere combine with water vapor of clouds. With the increase of concentration of these pollutants, the amount of acid rain increases. Acid rain, which is the mixture of sulphuric, nitric and carbonic acids, results in some changes in the soil such as decrease in pH, uncommon ...
متن کاملEnvironmental Situation of an Agricultural Area in Akure, Nigeria, Based on Physico-Chemical Properties of Rainwater
Acid rain still poses a global problem today, exerting many adverse effects on man, animal, and materials. As its research question, the present study tries to find out whether or not acid rains exist in Akure, Nigeria. For so doing, it determines physico-chemical properties of rain water samples, namely pH, temp, Electrical Conductivity (EC), TDS, acidity, SO4-, NO2-, Cl-, and Free CO2. Accord...

متن کاملThe assessment of Acid concentration and Wet deposition in Spring and Autumn Rainfalls in Mashhad
Acid rain has been a big problem for urban area during recent decades. Acid rain comes from high concentration of air pollutant, including man made or artificial and natural, in the atmosphere. Mashhad, as the biggest religious town in Iran, has also been imposed with this problem. In this investigation the samples of rains during autumn 2002 and spring 2003 are analyzed. The results showed tha...
